Fifty years ago, we launched from Fairfield High into a world of disco, draft cards, and dreams that wouldn’t quit. Our soundtrack? Soul, rock, Motown and a little mischief. Our roots? Deep in the neighborhoods around Travis AFB, where hard-working families raised tough, loyal, funny kids who stuck together through everything.
We weren’t the shiny elite — we were real. We mowed lawns, bagged groceries, and drove hand-me-down Chevys. We fell in love at Friday night football games, snuck out of windows in the middle of the night, got in a few dust-ups in the quad, gave some of our teachers a truly challenging time, made memories that still live large in our hearts and set our sites on all we hoped to become after we graduated.
